Laura Swiatek

Despite working long hours she always finds a way to fit in CrossFit even when she is exhausted. She is constantly trying to get better and works a lot with Pam and the coaches after class improving on her weaknesses. She just recently showcased her hard work and strength during the CrossFit Opens 16.2 when she attacked the cleans and pushed herself outside her comfort zone.

Laura is supportive of other members checking in on them and see

how they are progressing. Her positive energy is infectious which is displayed when even though she is struggling she is always smiling. We are grateful to have her as part of our CrossFit Family.

How did you hear about Crossfit?

I heard about CrossFit through Pam Savejs. She’s a long-time family friend and convinced me to try it!

Why did you start at CrossFit Meriden?

I kept trying different ways to get back into shape. I tried running and quickly realized that was not my thing. I was really looking for something similar to the conditioning workouts I did in high school for softball and I finally found it in CrossFit.

What is the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?

I am definitely a lot stronger than I ever was. I have more energy than I ever did and as soon as I walk in the door I immediately feel happier and less stressed out than I ever was before.

What do you like about it?

I love the challenge and the community aspect of it. There’s ALWAYS something to improve on and everyone is so encouraging.

What is your favorite CrossFit movement? Why?

Cleans are probably my favorite. I have seen the most improvement in that since I started which is exciting.

What would you say to someone who wants to try it?

I always tell people to try CrossFit. Most people tell me that they don’t think they can do it, which is funny because I think the exact opposite. Anyone can do it!

What is something people might not know about you?

I love anything and everything Disney. I’m 22 and I don’t think I will ever grow out of it.
