I’ve been a Y member and CrossFit member for many years. My parents were also Y members and my daughter joined me at CrossFit two years ago. I started with aerobics classes at the Y.  Our instructor began incorporating strength training into the classes and I liked it. Annie is also a CrossFit coach and said CrossFit was similar so I gave it a try. I loved it!

I began strength training at age fifty-five and wish I started earlier. I understand how important it is to work out. I am a breast cancer survivor. I am trying to make my muscles and bones stronger so I can take care of myself as I get older. I want to be able to do household tasks like carry groceries and lift the bags of dog food and continue to travel and play golf. A few years ago I had knee surgery and CrossFit helped me build my leg strength before and after.  My mother had dementia and I know that working out will help keep my mind sharp and prevent that.

You can do CrossFit at any age. The coaches are great. They are there to guide you and can help you modify any exercise that you need.  It’s a wonderful community.  If a friend asked me about CrossFit I would tell them I love CrossFit and you should give it a try.
