Jennifer's Story

​

I've been a member for about three years. Before CrossFit, my workouts were focused on cardio. I knew I needed to build my strength and thought doing CrossFit would  be a good way to do it. I  won a gift certificate to try CrossFit at a Y event  which got me started. My mom is also a CrossFit member and encouraged me to try it.

My favorite CrossFit  movement is handstand pushups because it took me a long time to get them. I also like doing toes to bar for the same reason. I have accomplished two of my three goals  this year including the rope climb. The final goal is doing a pullup.

I am much stronger from doing CrossFit, have more energy and less aches and pains. Before I started CrossFit I could not do a pushup. It takes a long time to get stronger. I started with just an empty barbell for a while, then added small weights and went from there. You just have to keep going and continue to build your strength over time.

The people and the coaches are great. Strength training is  lot more fun when you do it with your friends and it is a good way to socialize after work. It’s also nice to have the workout planned for you and have a coach guide you through. If a friend asked me about it I would encourage them to try it. Doing CrossFit is a great way to exercise and CrossFit Meriden is a great community.​
