Success Story: Suzanne Benigni
Coaches Comments
Congratulations to our Member of the month Suzanne! Suzanne is a super hero! She balances having four active children, two of which are twin boys and CrossFit four-five days a week. Those of you with kids know it’s very hard to find time for yourself and Suzanne chooses to spend her time with us.
If you come to our 5:15 a.m. class you will usually find her with one of her best friends Jenn laughing and enjoying their time together. The two of them are always pushing each other and have been since the start of CrossFit Meriden.
I like to call Suzanne the silent assassin because she doesn't complain about workouts or how hard they might be she just puts her head down and doesn't stop until she finished. She has a strong mental toughness which I think comes from having four kids and her competitive swimming background. We are certainly lucky to have her as part of our CrossFit community!
How did you hear about CrossFit Meriden?
I heard of CrossFit Meriden from my husband.

Why did you start at CrossFit Meriden?
I originally started at CrossFit Meriden because I have always liked group workout classes and had heard good things about CrossFit itself. I'm not the best self-motivator, I like to work out with others.

What is the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
The biggest change I've seen in myself since starting CrossFit is that I've actually stuck with it, I usually get bored and need to change things up but I've been doing it since it opened in Meriden, about three and a half years ago.

What do you like about it?
What I like about CrossFit is that it is always a different workout each day, it's challenging and the support amongst the members is great.

What is your favorite CrossFit movement? Why?
One of my favorite CrossFit movements is the burpee, probably because I'm so short and don't have to travel too far to get to the ground!!

What would you say to someone who wants to try it?
I would tell anyone to give CrossFit a try because the workouts can be modified to any fitness level and the coaches and members are very supportive in that!
What is something people might not know about you?
Something people may not know about me is that I've had two knee surgeries on the same knee with the latest surgery being a year and a half ago. Under the direction of the coaches I've modified my workouts to be the safest and most effective for me, which can be done for anyone in a similar situation.
