Alicia puts in the work and effort to reach her goals. She always pushes herself to be better. She amazes us all with her drive and determination! We are very lucky to have her as part of our community.
How did you learn about CrossFit/CFME?
Giana and Taylor are my neighbors and I heard that they loved it, so I figured I would give it a shot.
Why did you start at CrossFit Meriden?
I was bored with my current gym routine and felt that I wasn't challenging myself enough. I had never picked up a barbell in my life before On Ramp so I was nervous! The first month I thought "What the hell am I doing!!", but it was so rewarding and fun that I couldn't stop!
What is the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
I have very bad scoliosis and have suffered from constant back pain my whole life. Since starting CrossFit and strengthening my back, I feel the best I ever have!
What do you like about it?
I really love the community, the challenge, and the fact that it makes working out fun again. I always look forward to going to class, and it's such a great stress reliever!
Favorite CrossFit movement?
I really like push presses but I'm not sure why. I think because you feel really strong when you push something overhead, but it's easier than strict press. :)
What would you say to someone who wants to try it?
There are so many times I said to myself "oh I'll never be able to do that" and then I did it! If you really want to challenge and surprise yourself, just try it and stick with it for a month. You don't know what you're capable of!
What is something people might not know about you?
I'm getting my degree in mathematics, but my real life goal is to own a farm with a lot of animals. I guess I'm taking the roundabout route for my real goal.
