Coach Giana Ives
Socrates once said, “Shame is the man who grows old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” Too bad CrossFit came after his time, huh? Being the history and fitness nerd that I am, I connect deeply to the idea of constantly pushing the limits of your mental and physical threshold.
From my very first class I was instantly hooked. Today, 5 years later, I'm still more in love than ever. I constantly set new goals and try new skills - always trying to embrace this sport to it's fullest. As an athlete, I've most valued my competition experiences and am proud of my success as a local and regional level athlete.
As a coach, my goal is to motivate each individual to set goals and be able to work toward them in a safe, positive environment. As a former teacher, I am detail-oriented and always focus on promoting proper form and technique in all movements. You will often hear me encourage classes to track their progress and continuously set new goals- from increasing weight on a lift to simply not giving up during a workout.
I am so grateful to be a part of the CrossFit Meriden community-it’s more than just a gym; it’s truly a family.
